"The dog is the most faithful of animals and would be much esteemed were it not so common. God has made his greatest gift

the most common." —Martin Luther

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long do I need to train with you to achieve my goals?

This of course varies with each family but on average my clients that complete Beginner 1, 2 and Intermediate have met their initial goals.

  • What if I need to miss a session for any reason; is there a charge? Do I lose my spot on your calendar ?

No, I'm very flexible. We are all doing this thing called life and we are all doing the best we can so, no penalties for missed sessions. If it became habitual we would need to discuss the effects it's having on your training but I'm very understanding and patient. There's always a solution.

  • My dog is entering his senior years. Is it too late to train?

Not at all. I train many dogs that are no longer puppies. Especially with my work in the rescue community. It's a great opportunity to bond with your dog at any age.

  • I see you are a positive reinforcement trainer. Does this mean you don't use E-Collars for training?

I don't use collars for training your dog commands. I do believe that under certain behavioral circumstances a collar can be a good training tool to accomplish the goal. Most commonly, recall, jumping on children, and counter surfing. I feel strongly that your dog must understand commands before using a collar. In my training, it's my last resort and I will never scare a dog into listening or try to use a collar for fast results. My opinion is that this will not bond you with your dog. I truly want my clients to love training; both the humans and the fur babies.

  • What do I get when I sign up for training?

Aside from your in person training, you will receive a training binder that will be updated weekly with the materials from the commands we have learned. You will also have an electronic client portal with all your materials saved there. I also provide some of my favorite doggy related things.

  • Do I get a photoshoot of my dog if I'm a training client?

Unfortunately you don't get a free session, however I do have packages that include a photo session for a discounted price.

  • Do I have to have a phone consultation with you before booking?

Yes. I believe it's super important that we are on the same page. I want to discuss your goals as a family and discuss my training philosophy. It's important to the success of training that you feel I'm a good fit for you family. If I feel during our consultation that I need to meet your dog in person I will set that up with you at no charge.

  • I want to get a puppy or even an older dog, but I'm not sure what breed is best for my family. Should I rescue? Breeder? Can you help me with that?

Absolutely! I love to have this conversation with families. It's completely free. It can really make a big difference!
